The City of Elliot Lake Fire Service provides a 24-hour service made up of a Fire Chief, Emergency Management Coordinator, who is also Administrative Assistant to the Chief, a Chief Fire Prevention Officer and a composite force of 34 firefighters; 8 fulltime firefighters and 25 volunteer firefighters.

The service has two fire pumpers and one 95-foot platform aerial ladder fire truck. In addition, our service includes two 4x4 trucks and an ATV used for bush fires, a 16-foot boat for use in search and rescue and cottage lot protection, as well as a Chief's car.

The Elliot Lake Fire Service has a very active fire prevention program in the community. There are in excess of 18 various programs offered through the service, a few of which are listed below.

In operation since 1949, the Ontario Fire College’s primary mandate is to meet the education and training needs of the Ontario fire service. As of April 2014, the Ontario Fire College will offer education and training programs based mostly on the National Fire Protection Association – Professional Qualifications Standards.
